FAQs
What is tallow and why would I want to use it?
Tallow is rendered fat from animals that graze on grass. Tallow closely resembles our own skin's sebum and is one of the most nutrient-dense product we could use on our skin, the body's largest organ. It's deeply nourishing for a wide variety of skin concerns.

My order just arrived! What should I know?
The biggest piece is to keep them clean and dry. Storing them in a bathroom that's often humid can lead to moisture introduction. They're best kept in a closet or bedroom.
All products have limitless uses! If the product is firm, warm it up in your clean hands and apply where needed. A little goes a long way.
Product-specific info can be found on each item's description.
Will tallow make my skin oily?
No. Oily skin is skin in desperate need of nutrients. Tallow, when used sparingly, will provide your skin with those nutrients. If you're feeling greasy/oily after application, use a smaller amount.
Where are your herbs sourced from?
Some are wild harvested, some are grown in our small pesticide-free garden, and others are purchased from small organic (or better than organic) farms in and outside of Alaska.
What's your refund policy?
Refunds aren't offered at this point. If there is a problem with your order, please email us at hello@alaskatallowco.com
What product would you recommend for me?
All products are created to be multi-purpose.
Each product has a photo included of a quick summary of its best uses.
Why aren't essential oils used?
Essential oils are left out so that these products can be used on the most sensitive of skin. Additionally, the use of the entire plant is a more sustainable practice.
Are these products safe for children and infants?
All products are created and sourced with the most sensitive skin in mind. Product-specific information is available on each product's link.
If you have any concerns about applying product to your child, consider speaking with your medical provider.
What if my products melt or freeze?
Frozen tallow will return to its original state after sitting at room temp for a few hours.
Tallow is temperature-sensitive with a melting point of 95*. We recommend tracking your shipment to ensure it gets inside as soon as possible.
Tallow balms will easily re-solidify in the fridge or at room temperature. Whipped tallow, when melted, will not return to its whipped state. But! If your whipped tallow does melt, the product is still usable and effective.
If you have concerns about melting, try to order your items when the climate is mild.
Where does the tallow come from?
All tallow-based products created by Alaska Tallow Co. uses beef tallow. It's the most consistent and sustainable tallow available. Tallow comes from across the state of Alaska as well as northern states in the continental US.
